Fluffy had been abandoned by her previous owner and was rescued by one of our own staff members in September of 2004. With no where to go, she came to live with us here at SLEWTHS and quickly became part of our family. When Fluffy first arrived at our facility she was very untrusting of humans. Fluffy would refuse to take food from us unless it was in a cup from the inside of her cage with no one watching. But, through careful desensitization, training, and care, Fluffy has come a long way and is now very comfortable around people and has an extensive knowledge of various behaviors.

Fluffy voluntarily loads into a cage, onto a perch, hand, or scale for weighing. She likes being petted now and has learned to perform visual discrimination tasks, taking objects, stationing, and targeting. Fluffy offers the opportunity for our lower staff and upper staff to practice novel behavior training on a totally different type of animal and she participates in class demonstrations as well.
