Heather Yeager has been working for SLEWTHS since November 2000. She obtained the position of Head Trainer in November 2008. Heather has been interested in working with animals, marine mammals in particular, since she was very young. Her interest peaked while working at Six Flags Marine World as a counselor for the "Summer Seafari" day camp program, where she worked for seven years. During that time, she met and interacted with quite a few of the marine mammal trainers. From them, she learned about the SLEWTHS program, and the rest of the story has been a dream come true. She has been able to co-design and take part in a research project which studied and quantified the annual molting process in California sea lions. She has also had the opportunity to take part in various professional presentations and publications. She is grateful for all the opportunities she has had thanks to SLEWTHS and their amazing staff and animals.
