Our oldest sea lion at SLEWTHS, Beaver was born in 1978 and is the biggest and historically the most dominant animal. Beaver came to us from the US Navy when he was nine. He had a history of ocean work with the Navy, and so he adjusted to our open water research quickly.

Beaver looks different from most wild male sea lions because he was neutered while at the navy. Due to this, he is smaller than most males and does not possess the signature crest on his head. Beaver, who is old for a male sea lion, has gone into retirement mode and is generally slower than the rest of the collection. He is now blind, but has adjusted well to the situation. Beaver's favorite toys are nice squishy buoys.
